California Hit by Earthquake as Devastating Fires Rage on
A 2.2-magnitude tremor, followed by a 2.5 magnitude aftershock, struck the area after the initial quake. Then, on Thursday, a 3.0 magnitude earthquake hit about 100 miles away. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported. As Southern California battles ongoing wildfires that have destroyed many homes, the earthquakes added to the community's distress. In a statement on X, President Joe Biden said: "To the families in Southern California who have been affected by this disaster: I know you are going through a living hell. I want to assure you that we will help you get through this and eventually recover and rebuild."
