Ward, 27, spent the entire 2024 season switching between the Steelers' active roster and their practice squad. Ward initially auditioned to join the Steelers at their rookie mini camp and earned a contract with the team, staying with them through the offseason, training camp, and preseason. He was cut in August, then signed back to the practice squad.

Ward played four games for the Steelers this season, earning 22 yards on five rushing attempts. Although his running numbers were limited, he made significant contributions to the Steelers' special teams. He participated in various special teams units, including kickoff, kick return, punt, and punt return, earning a career-high 19 reps in Week 8 against the Giants. Ward also finished the season with two special teams tackles.
Ward is 27 years old and a five-year NFL veteran. Prior to his current stint in the league, he played for the Arizona Cardinals and Tennessee Titans as well as the New York Jets. In the 2021 season, while playing for the Cardinals, Ward made notable contributions, rushing the ball nine times for a total of 33 yards and catching three passes for 34 yards over the course of 13 games.
With Warren a restricted free agent and Harris an unrestricted free agent after the Steelers decided not to exercise his fifth-year option.
