One Potential Brian Flores Suitor Hires New Coach

With several teams looking for a new head coach, one of them announced plans to part ways with their current coach by making a change on Monday.

Sources close to the situation report that the team has offered the head coaching job to former offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, although the details of their agreement are not yet public.

Johnson was one of the most in-demand candidates this time around, and now he's headed to the Bears, a team that's had their fair share of struggles on offense in the recent past and is still searching for a quarterback who can lead the way. Can Johnson bring the guidance they need? The Vikings would certainly benefit if he doesn't.

The Jets might be an attractive option for Flores, as it would allow him the chance to face his old Miami team twice a year, as well as the Patriots, without any perceived animosity. Additionally, Jacksonville parted ways with an offensive-oriented head coach, Doug Pederson, and may be open to hiring someone with Flores' defensive expertise.

Flores has said he's not interested in taking a head coaching job unless it's a good fit, so it will be interesting to see if the Jaguars or Jets make a strong enough impression to change his mind. If neither team makes a run at him, it's more likely he'll stay with the Vikings as defensive coordinator for a third year.

We'll keep an eye on the coaching market within the league, as well as any potential poaching of Minnesota Vikings coaches by other teams looking to round out their coaching staffs under their new head coaches.
