Delta Airlines praised for holding flight to allow daughter time with dying mother

White expressed relief that her mother's early diagnosis and surgery had been successful so far. However, her relief was short-lived, as she soon received a call from her brother, who broke the news that her mother's condition had taken a turn for the worse, putting her in septic shock. She was then asked to visit her mother immediately, as the doctors were unsure of the cause of her condition or how long she had been in this state.

White's flight from Dallas, Texas, needed to make a stop in Minneapolis, Minnesota, but a problem with the plane's mechanics left it grounded at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport for more than an hour, putting her connecting flight in jeopardy and leaving her worried that she might not arrive in time to see her mother.

She then described her situation to the flight attendant, who explained that due to some issue, she would not be able to make her departure on time.

The pilot on the initial flight contacted the pilot on White's subsequent flight and kindly agreed to delay departure for her.

The flight attendants upgraded White's seat so she could exit the plane more quickly, and they also made an over-the-head announcement to ensure she would be the top priority for disembarking. Moreover, the gentleman sitting next to her in first class provided her with a map of the Minneapolis airport, allowing her to accurately locate the gate for her connecting flight.

White ultimately managed to board the Minneapolis flight after a 30-minute delay and made it to her destination on schedule.
